Maxime Decomble, bronze and confirmation of a talent
25 September 2025

At 20 years old, Maxime Decomble won the bronze medal in the U23 time trial at the 2025 World Championships. In the 33.8 km time trial, he finished behind Sweden’s Jakob Söderqvist and New Zealand’s Nate Pringle, a performance that capped an already exceptional season.

A high-flying Tour de l’Avenir
Before this world podium finish, Maxime Decomble shone at the 2025 Tour de l’Avenir, where he wore the yellow jersey until the final stage. His consistency and versatility were his hallmarks: several top-five stage finishes, incisive attacks on the climbs, and a constant presence in decisive breakaways. Paul Seixas was also able to count on Lieu, a model teammate, who supported him throughout the race, controlling the peloton and helping him at key moments. Thanks to this cohesion and his racing sense, Decomble finished 5th overall, confirming his status as one of the great hopes of French cycling.

Bronze in Kigali: A Well-Deserved Reward
The world time trial confirmed his qualities as a rouleur. Even though he didn’t win, his third place demonstrates that he can compete on very different terrains.

The future looks bright
Originally from La Ciotat, Decomble is known for his cheerful disposition and determination. His time with Groupama-FDJ as a trainee next year will give him the opportunity to confirm his potential in the professional peloton. With a season in which he alternated between time trials, mountain stages, and international stage races, Maxime Decomble is establishing himself as one of the great hopes of French cycling.

The bronze in Kigali is therefore not just a medal, but tangible proof of a maturing talent, capable of making his mark on the world stage, with a fine balance between audacity and cons.
